Salt and Light in a post-truth world
How can the 21st century Christian navigate the increasingly volatile marketplace of ideas? What does the Christian message have to offer hearts and minds in a world of such unprecedented diversity? This session will set out the beauty and fundamentals of the Gospel, by looking more closely at three foundational issues: the nature of technology, the nature of success, the nature of people.

Endgame: What is the purpose of your life?
Amidst the competing voices of cultural influencers and the social and academic demands of school, it can be hard to know what God wants us to do with our lives. By taking stock of God’s endgame, this talk is designed to help students live with purpose right now and for all their days.

Chaplain, Robert Menzies College, Sydney
The surprising strength of weakness
Our world proclaims that the #blessed are confident, beautiful, successful and adored, yet Jesus claimed that the blessed are poor, meek, pure, and persecuted. Does that mean that if we’re with Jesus, we have to welcome weakness? How can there be any upsides to physical or mental illness, rejection, or pain? Lily will explain why Christ’s words to the weak are not only radical, but a wonderful, surprising source of strength.
BIO
Lily grew up in Sydney, doing everything she could to embrace strength and success. She has since discovered the joy of weakness and loves serving university students as the Chaplain to Robert Menzies College at Macquarie University. Before studying theology, she worked as a corporate lawyer and before that she learnt to love coffee, big books and politics whilst studying at the University of Sydney. She owns the cutest dog in the world, a cavoodle named Ziggy and is writing a book about living with bipolar disorder.
What is Masterclass?
Bible Society's Masterclass events are for students in school years 9-11* to explore contemporary issues from a biblical perspective. Masterclass also includes a popular Q&A session, giving students the freedom to ask our panel of speakers searching questions about the Christian faith. Students are frequently challenged to give a reason for the hope they have in Jesus. Masterclass helps young Christians to grow in their confidence and withstand the pressures of living in a post-Christian society. *Years 8 and 12 are also welcome to attend.
