58% is the literacy rate in Pakistan as of 2019 (World Bank data) which is one of the lowest in the world. Without the basic skill of reading and writing, social and economic opportunities are limited for women. Approximately 34% of Pakistani Christian women are literate; more women long to learn literacy to read and understand God's word.

The Need for Bibles in Rural China
46 Million Christians (unofficially, estimates indicate that there are 100 million Christians) in China, of which around 60% live in rural areas. In China today, there are more than 5 million farmers who live on less than $45 USD a month. Poverty refers mainly to the rural poor and most of the Christian population live in rural areas; access to free or affordable Bibles are very much needed.

Scripture Access Challenge in Bangladesh
72% is the female literacy rate in Bangladesh as of 2020 (World Bank data). Most people in rural areas cannot read the Bible or any book. Women living in remote areas in Bangladesh are poor and have had very little opportunity to access an education. Some have the Scripture available to them and are hungry to learn to read the word of God.

Literacy Skills for Underprivileged Women (Tax-Deductible)

Your giving will support this longstanding Bible-based literacy program held by Bangladesh Bible Society which equips women in remote regions with literacy skills for everyday living and Bible engagement.  
 

Pre-Primary Literacy for Rural Children (Tax-Deductible)

Your support will help Bangladesh Bible Society in their goal to reach 600 preschool-aged children with the word of God through a literacy course within rural Bangladesh. This program teaches children basic literacy skills to prepare them for formal schooling.

Vietnamese Study Bible (Non-Tax-Deductible)

Your giving will help the translation of the Old Testament to complete an easy-to-use Vietnamese Study Bible for Christians wanting to grow deeper in faith and learn the Bible. The goal is to finish the content related to the Old Testament in 2024 and publish the Study Bible in mid-2025.


Bible Engagement for the Ethnic Minorities in Vietnam

Your giving will also support Vietnam Bible Society in this project that engages ethnic minority groups in Vietnam with the Bible, newly translated into their languages.

Your giving to this project will help translate the Old Testament for a Vietnamese ethnic minority* to join the recently translated New Testament and complete the first full Bible for this marginalised community. *Name of ethnic minority kept private for security reasons.  

Literacy for Sri Lankan Children and Youth (Tax-Deductible)

Each year, the Ceylon Bible Society aims to run literacy classes through the network of churches and Christian organisations in Sri Lanka, especially in rural, slum and undeveloped areas. These classes offer reading, listening and writing skills to non-literate youth and children in Sri Lanka so they can contribute to the development of their communities as well as increase their ability to learn and understand Scriptures.


Gospel Parables in Sri Lankan Sign Language
(Non-Tax-Deductible)

The Ceylon Bible Society is also translating the Gospel Parables of Jesus into Sign Language for the Christian deaf community in Sri Lanka, partnering with Christian Churches and other organisations in the country. This project aims to make key biblical narratives accessible to the deaf community in Sri Lanka by creating gospel selections in Sri Lankan Sign Language in video format. 

Literacy Capacity in the Asia Pacific Region (Tax-Deductible)

This capacity building project for Bible Society literacy workers will impact about 30 literacy staff of Bible Societies in the Asia Pacific, thereby benefiting their literacy projects and thousands of learners in the coming years.


Asia Pacific Literacy Advisor
(Tax-Deductible)

Supporting this project means strengthening the literacy work of Bible Societies in the Asia Pacific as funds United Bible Societies (UBS) Literacy Advisors. Advisors collaborate globally to establish a literacy framework, guide project prioritisation, ensure quality, and assist Bible Societies in planning and implementing literacy programs in their countries. 

Affordable Bibles for Millions in China (Non-Tax-Deductible)

Your giving will support United Bible Society’s China Partnership in distributing subsidised and free Bibles to the millions of Christians in China ensuring that as many Chinese Christians as possible can have their own Bible.   

In 2024, the project plans to distribute 70,000 free Bibles (including large print editions) and provide Bible paper to print 1,250,000 copies of affordable Bibles through their partnership with the National CCC/TSPM and Chinese Catholic Church. 

Beacon in the Darkness (Tax-Deductible)

Your donation can help boost the literacy rate among women in Pakistan whilst engaging them with God’s word.

This project by Pakistan Bible Society provides Bible-based literacy classes for non-literate Pakistani women with the aim to reach 3,500 learners in 2024.
