Reflecting on the importance of Bible based literacy classes for refugee families in Lebanon
A parent testifies as to the importance of this literacy program: “I’ve seen how much this program has transformed my daughter. She used to struggle with reading and often felt left out in Sunday school. But now, she reads her Bible every night with confidence. When the war escalated, I worried we’d lose this precious connection to the Word of God. But thanks to the Bible Society’s constant support, the classes continued.
“In those moments of fear and uncertainty, the scriptures became our anchor. I’ll forever be grateful for this program that not only teaches literacy but strengthens our faith as a family.”
A teacher in the literacy program says, “I’ve witnessed incredible transformations. One of my students, a young boy, came into the class not being able to read at all. By the end of the program, he stood in front of the class and read a passage a verse in both English and Arabic. His eyes sparkled with pride. During the war, I saw families risk everything just to bring their children to these classes because they knew the value of God’s Word in their lives. This program doesn’t just teach reading; it builds hope, resilience, and a stronger faith.”
A 9-year-old student shares, “I was scared when the bombing started, but I kept reading the stories we learned in class with my parents about God protecting His people. I remembered, ‘If Daniel could trust God in the lion’s den, so can I.’ I’m so thankful for the Bible Society. You taught me more than reading. You taught me to trust God!”
“Even during the war, the program didn’t stop, and it became the light that brightened our lives in the darkness. Thank you to the Bible Society for making this dream possible for us and our children.”
